2 Killed as Stolen Car Fleeing Police Hits Tesla in Elk Grove

Skip Van, 54, and Tiffany Chu, 47, both rear passengers in a Tesla, were killed when a stolen silver Hyundai driven by a 14-year-old boy fleeing Elk Grove police ran a red light at Brown Road and Elk Grove Florin Road and broadsided their car. The Tesla driver suffered life-threatening injuries and a front passenger was hospitalized.

Teen Killed When Camaro Hits Garbage Truck on I-80 in SF

A 17-year-old backseat passenger was killed and three other teen occupants were hospitalized early Saturday after a Chevrolet Camaro made an unsafe turning movement and struck a Recology garbage truck on eastbound Interstate 80 near the 7th Street off-ramp in San Francisco, sending the car over the railing and about 25 feet down into an SFPD impound lot. The CHP says drugs and alcohol are not suspected and the cause remains under investigation.

Scooter Rider Killed in Sylvan Road Crash, Citrus Heights

One person riding a motorized scooter was killed Saturday morning, May 30, 2026, in a collision with a vehicle on Sylvan Road near Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stayed and is cooperating with the Citrus Heights Police Department. The victim’s identity has not been released and the cause remains under investigation.

Two Children Hurt in Rohnert Park Hit-and-Run; Two Arrested

Two juveniles riding an electric scooter were injured, one of them seriously, when a silver Dodge Durango ran a stop sign and struck them near Bodway Parkway and Waterside Lane in Rohnert Park, then fled. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety says surveillance video captured the SUV running the stop sign, and the driver has not yet been identified.

Elderly Pedestrian Hurt in Roseville DUI Crash, Driver Held

An 86-year-old woman was crossing Sunrise Avenue at Cirby Way in Roseville when a vehicle exiting a parking lot struck her. She was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. Roseville Police arrested the 62-year-old driver on suspicion of felony DUI and booked him into the South Placer County Jail.

Three Injured in Sonoma Valley Airport Plane Crash

A single-engine plane carrying a pilot and two passengers crashed during a landing attempt at Sonoma Valley Airport, also known as Schellville Airport, in Sonoma on May 27, 2026. The California Highway Patrol reported one person with major injuries and two with minor injuries after the aircraft came to rest upside down near the runway. The cause is under investigation by the FAA and NTSB.

Colfax Man Killed as Tanker Trailer Crosses I-80 Near Auburn

Michael Fiscus, 57, of Colfax, was killed on eastbound Interstate 80 near Placer Hills Road north of Auburn when a Freightliner big rig lost control, struck the center divider, and its water tank trailer detached and crossed into his path, striking his Ford F-150. CHP says the big rig driver fled the scene on foot and has not been located, while the trucking company owner is cooperating with investigators.

San Ramon Man Killed in Dublin Blvd 5-Vehicle Crash

Michael Bertalan, 45, of San Ramon, died and two others were left in critical condition after a Lexus ES 350 traveling at high speed rear-ended his Volkswagen Jetta in a right-turn lane on westbound Dublin Boulevard, setting off a five-vehicle chain reaction. Dublin Police say the Lexus did not appear to brake before impact.

Beloved San Leandro School Worker Killed by Speeding Driver

Andrea Sanchez, 50, of San Leandro, a beloved cafeteria worker known to students as Chef Andrea, was killed when a Mercedes-Benz traveling at more than 60 mph ran the intersection of Corvallis Street and Dartmouth Avenue and struck her Kia. Police say the driver fled on foot. Chuliao Wu, 32, of Oakland, was arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter.
