Driver Dies After Vehicle Crashes Into Building in Fremont

What Fremont Police Reported

Fremont police said officers responded at about 12:12 p.m. on September 19, 2026, to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a vehicle that had crashed into a building near Niles Boulevard and Cinematic Common.

First responders found the 88-year-old driver unresponsive inside the vehicle and provided life-saving efforts. He was taken to a local trauma center, where he later died, according to the department. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle and no bystanders were injured.

Fremont police described the crash as the city's ninth fatal traffic collision of 2026.

The Fremont Police Traffic Unit is investigating the crash. Police said speed had not been ruled out, but the exact cause has not been publicly determined.
