People may not remember the Name Stella Leibeck but almost certainly they know of her landmark case vs Mcdonalds. The infamous, Hot Coffee Settlement, spread like wildfire through the news media and became a rallying cry for legal reform. The media successfully villanized Leibeck, spinning her story as just another frivolous lawsuit, and turning her into some gold digger trying to get rich. The media was also successful in victimizing a callous and indifferent corporation. In the midst of all the media hype the facts of the case were lost however anyone who hears the facts will realize that this lawsuit was far from frivolous.
