Critical Injuries Reported After a Motorcycle Collision at the 8000 Block of International Boulevard

East Oakland, CA –A motorcycle and vehicle collision on International Boulevard in East Oakland left two people critically injured.

The Incident

Two individuals, a man and a woman in their 20s, sustained critical injuries in a late-night collision between a dirt bike and a Toyota Avalon in East Oakland. The incident occurred on July 8, 2024, around 8:18 p.m. at the 8000 block of International Boulevard.

The Oakland Police Department reported that the dirt bike, driven by the man with the woman as a passenger, was traveling westbound at approximately 65 mph in a bus-only lane. At the same time, the Toyota Avalon, driven by another man, was heading westbound on International Avenue and was turning left onto 80th Avenue. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, throwing both dirt bike occupants onto the roadway.

The male driver was picked up by an unidentified person with the dirt bike and taken to a hospital, leaving the female passenger behind with severe head injuries. She was later transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Toyota remained uninjured and stayed at the scene, cooperating with police. None of the involved parties have been publicly identified, and Oakland Police are seeking witnesses to the incident.
