Zachary Gilfillan, a 28-year-old man from Napa, was struck by an unidentified vehicle while riding his electric unicycle on the shoulder of Cuttings Wharf Road, in the Carneros area around 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024. According to California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesperson Marc Renspurger, the incident occurred north of Las Amigas Road.
Gilfillan, who was not wearing a helmet, lost control of his unicycle and was subsequently thrown off when the unicycle overturned. Nearby residents, although not direct witnesses, rushed to assist Gilfillan at the scene until emergency responders arrived. He was swiftly transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center, where he was treated for major but non-life-threatening injuries.
