Hundreds of people showed up this weekend at the train tracks near 4th and C st in Galt, to remember freshman football player Kyle Guenther who died tragically after being struck by a Northbound Union Pacific Freight Train Friday night.
According to police officers Guenther was with three other teens and they were attempting to race the train and jump across the tracks in front of it. Guenther was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of severe head trauma, major lacerations, and injuries to both legs but subsequently died from the severity of his injuries.
“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the deceased. This is a stark reminder of the inherent dangers of railroad property.”
UP Spokesman Aaron Hunt
