What the CHP Reported

The California Highway Patrol said the rollover happened just after midnight on Thursday, October 15, 2026, on Friant Road at Belcher Road in Fresno County.

CHP said a McLaren traveling north on Friant Road went out of control, struck the raised median, and rolled onto its roof. The driver died at the scene. The Fresno County Coroner's Office identified him as Keerat Riar, 25, of Clovis.

A 68-year-old passenger from Clovis was conscious but had major injuries. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. ABC30 and YourCentralValley reported the same crash, matching the location, vehicle, time, driver age, fatality, and injured passenger.

ABC30 reported that officers did not believe drugs or alcohol were factors. The investigation remains open, and this article does not assign fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an injured passenger bring a claim after a single-car crash?
Potentially, yes. A passenger may have claims involving available auto coverage and should preserve medical and crash evidence.
Why should a rollover vehicle be preserved?
Tires, suspension, steering, restraint systems, and electronic data may help explain how the rollover occurred and how the occupants were injured.
Does a preliminary CHP statement decide fault?
No. It is one part of the evidence, and the complete report and physical evidence should be reviewed.
How long does a family have to act after a fatal crash in California?
Most wrongful death lawsuits must be filed within two years of the death. If a public agency may share responsibility, a government claim is usually due within six months, so it is worth getting advice early.
