A Rider Was Found on the On-Ramp

The California Highway Patrol said it was alerted at about 4:22 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to a motorcycle crash on the Manuel Campos Parkway on-ramp to westbound Interstate 80 in northern Fairfield. Officers arrived about five minutes later and found the rider, a 37-year-old man, unconscious and breathing shallowly.

Fairfield firefighters arrived soon after and began life-saving measures. The CHP said the rider was pronounced dead at 4:36 a.m. The on-ramp was closed and reopened around 6 a.m.

What the CHP Has Said So Far

According to the CHP's preliminary investigation, the rider was on a BMW sportbike and was entering westbound I-80 from Manuel Campos Parkway when he failed to make a curve on the on-ramp and crashed. The CHP pointed to his speed. No other vehicle was reported to be involved.

The Solano County Coroner's Office will release the rider's name after his family is notified. The CHP asked anyone with information to contact its Solano Area office.

What Families Should Know

A preliminary finding is a starting point, not the final word. In single-motorcycle crashes, investigators still look at the road surface, debris, lighting, the design of the ramp and the condition of the bike itself. Families should keep the motorcycle and its parts as they are until it has been inspected, and request the full CHP report when it is ready.

Even when no other driver is involved, a family may have options such as the rider's own insurance or a claim if a defective part or a road hazard played a role. A short, free conversation can help sort out what applies.

This article does not make any finding about cause or fault. The investigation remains open.

Our thoughts are with the rider's family, friends and everyone who rode with him.
