What Public Reporting Says Happened

FOX40 reported that first responders found a vehicle partially submerged in a canal near Pelger Road and Knights Road in rural Sutter County after crash reports just after 3 a.m. Monday.

The vehicle was reportedly about 15 feet off the roadway, partially filled with water, and near a bridge over the canal. A tow truck removed the car before 7 a.m.

Sutter County officials later identified the person who died as Landen Penteney-Star, 24, of Yuba City. Officials were still investigating the cause of the crash in the public reporting reviewed for this article.
