Elderly Man Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Madera County

Multi-Vehicle Accident Occurred on Highway 41 Resulting in the Death of an 83-Year-Old Man who failed to Stop at a Red Light

Madera County, CA –An 83-year-old man’s failure to halt for traffic led to a tragic fatal collision on Highway 41 near Madera County, drawing attention to the critical importance of road safety practices.

The Incident

On the evening of Friday, November 8, 2024, a tragic multi-vehicle collision unfolded on Highway 41, just south of Children’s Boulevard, near Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera County. The accident involved a 2007 GMC Canyon, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, and a 2002 Honda Accord driven by an 83-year-old man.

As traffic slowed, the GMC Canyon came to a stop, followed by the Chevrolet Tahoe. Unfortunately, the driver of the Honda Accord failed to slow down and collided with the Tahoe, propelling it into the stopped Canyon.

The elderly driver, who was then transported to a local hospital, was pronounced dead, while the other involved drivers sustained only minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash, and all occupants were wearing seatbelts.
