The driver of the bus involved in the tragic accident last week in Orland, Ca has been identified as long time San Mateo native Talalelei Lealao-Taiao. Known by her friends as Tala, the Sacramento resident was a long time employee of Sam Trans a San Mateo County regional bus service.
Taioa, 53 years old, was killed when her bus was struck head on by a Federal Express truck that had crossed over the grassy median separating north and south bound traffic. Taioa was driving for Silverado Stages a San Luis Obispo based company who called Taioa, a valued employee and friend.
According to officials Taioa had a clean driving record.
Lealao-Taiao’s daughter, Jordayna Lealao had this to say via social media:
“I believe with the great support of family and friends that we are going to be okay,” she wrote. “This is a time that we should celebrate the beautiful life my mother lived. I know she wouldn’t want us to be sad right now.”
