Bicyclist Dies After Santa Cruz County Crash on Soquel Drive Near Porter Street

According to reporting citing the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at about 3:46 p.m. Friday on Soquel Drive east of Porter Street, near Soquel High School in Santa Cruz County.

CHP said a white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado and a male bicyclist were traveling southbound on Soquel Drive before the collision. The bicyclist sustained major injuries, was taken to a local hospital, and later died.

Driver Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

CHP said the 41-year-old Santa Cruz pickup-truck driver was arrested after the fatal collision. Public reporting reviewed for this article did not identify the charges, so this article does not assign a criminal allegation beyond the reported arrest.
