The San Jose Police Department said the crash happened around 8:56 p.m. on Capitol Expressway just east of Copperfield Drive.
According to SJPD, a black 2018 Tesla sedan was traveling eastbound when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing the roadway outside a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian died at the scene. The driver and two juvenile passengers were later taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver remained at the scene and cooperated.
