What Redding Police Reported
KRCR and Action News Now reported that Redding police were dispatched at about 11:19 p.m. to Lake Boulevard near Clay Street for a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.
Investigators said the woman was crossing Lake Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk and wearing dark clothing when she was struck by a 2007 Chrysler van traveling eastbound.
Police said the van driver and occupants stopped and tried to help. A 1977 Chevrolet pickup traveling eastbound then also struck the pedestrian. She died from her injuries.
Why a Double-Strike Pedestrian Crash Needs Careful Review
A two-impact pedestrian fatality can raise difficult questions about lighting, visibility, lane position, driver reaction time, roadway design, and what each driver could see after the first collision.
The early police statement says alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors for either driver. That does not end the civil evidence review, because speed, attention, lighting, roadway conditions, and post-impact actions may still matter.
This article does not assign fault. It preserves the reported facts while the investigation remains open.
Evidencia que puede ser importante
Important evidence may include Redding Police reports, scene photos, nearby video, vehicle damage, witness statements, lighting measurements, roadway design records, and coroner information.
Because the crash happened at night, investigators may need to review street lighting, sight distance, clothing visibility, vehicle headlights, and timing between the first and second impacts.
A California pedestrian accident lawyer can help families request records and preserve evidence before video or physical evidence is lost.
