San Jose police said an adult man riding an electric bicycle was traveling westbound in a marked bicycle lane on Tully Road near Lanai Avenue at about 7:45 a.m. on September 3.

Police said a westbound dump truck struck the e-bike rider. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, while the truck driver stayed and cooperated with investigators.

What Remains Under Investigation

Police said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors. Public reporting did not state whether a citation would be issued or provide a final fault finding.

The victim's identity was pending release by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner after family notification.
