Without warning, a white Ford Taurus turned or pulled out directly into the eastbound lanes, placing the vehicle squarely in the motorcyclists&#8217; path.<\/p>\n      <p>The first rider had no time to stop. The motorcycle struck the driver&#8217;s side door of the Taurus at speed, and the rider died at the scene. The second motorcyclist recognized the danger in an instant and made the split-second decision to lay the motorcycle down rather than attempt a full-speed collision. That defensive maneuver likely saved the rider&#8217;s life, but the skid still resulted in severe injuries requiring hospitalization.
